Cistus (from the Greek "Kistos") (cistus incanus) is a genus of flowering plants in the rockrose family Cistaceae, containing about 20 species
They are perennial shrubs found on dry or rocky soils throughout the Mediterranean region, from Morocco and Portugal through to the Middle East, and also on the Canary Islands. The leaves are evergreen, opposite, simple, usually slightly rough-surfaced, 2–8 cm long in a few species the leaves are coated with a highly aromatic resin called labdanum.
Legend states that became a board over to Olympus where the gods decided what plants will be therapeutic.
The gods decided that the cistus will heal wounded warriors in battle.
This irked the goddesses, because they were confident that the plant with delicate pink flowers would be best suited for her beauty - inside and outside.
The result was that the cistus were both targets, therapeutic and cosmetic effect.
